PICON CELEBRATES AT DRUPA

Picon, the printing industry confederation, celebrated Drupa success with its members in its lounge in Hall 10. “It’s been brilliant and the interest has been phenomenal,” says Richard Caslon, managing director of Caslon, a Picon member who took advantage of the special rates afforded by the association’s booking of stand space. “We have a small stand, which is all we need. However, Picon passes on the discount that it gets from taking a large amount of space. Another bonus is our proximity to the Picon lounge with all the facilities that come with that.”

A wider range of papers adds versatility to the GMG paper portfolio

Tuebingen (May 29th, 2008) – GMG, supplier of high-end color management and proofing solutions, has added new media to its portfolio of substrates for high-quality proofing and will present the new papers at Drupa 2008. The new GMG ProofPaper collection comprises GMG ProofPaper matte 140 and GMG ProofPaper gloss 250.

All GMG substrates are manufactured to more than meet the stringent demands on a color-accurate contract proof and have a high paper tint accuracy, particularly high ink limits and very good drying properties. GMG printer calibrations are optimally adapted to the respective substrate, the inks and the output device – the fundamental prerequisite for remote proofing within a family of printers. GMG also guarantees that the properties of the substrates are consistent from batch to batch.

Truepress Jet520 solution on display at drupa 2008

(Headquarters: Kyoto, Japan) will be exhibiting the Truepress Jet520 solution, which is suitable for a wide variety of printing applications, throughout the two-week-long drupa 2008 International Trade Fair, which takes place in Düsseldorf, Germany between May 29 and June 11.

In recent years, the need for Print on Demand (POD) has increased in every printing field. Since its commercial release in 2006, the Truepress Jet520 full-color variable printing system has received rave reviews as an on-demand printing system for a variety of applications, including the printing of newspapers, direct mail, invoices, books, and more, and it is now the number one system of its kind worldwide.

At its drupa stand in Hall 8b, Screen will feature two separate Truepress Jet520 lines focusing on different applications. A full duplex line (two engines) will highlight newspaper production with live printing of several major international publications including the Daily Mail, Le Monde, El Pais, and Asahi Shimbun. The newspaper will be finished on-line by a Hunkeler newspaper system. When it is not printing newspapers, this line will be used to print a range of Print on Demand products, such as brochures.
