Print-Leeds, the plastics printing specialist that takes its name from its home city, has installed the UK’s first Screen Truepress Jet1600UV-F large format digital inkjet printer to take the company to the next level with digital production directly on to substrates up to 50mm thick.

The company is strong in the niche market of lenticular printing, which it currently produces on its Heidelberg CD74-6-LX-UV – also the first UK installation – and has seen a marked increase in the demand for very short runs and one-offs. The Truepress Jet1600UV-F has a head positioning system which features a high-resolution linear scale, enabling extremely precise dot placement.

As the World Cup kicks off, Screen has teamed up with Printvlak in the Netherlands to produce an exhibition of stunning photographs by top photographer Robin Utrecht for the Stars in their Eyes initiative, which uses football to bring about social change in South Africa.

Printvlak produced the 80 x 120 cm prints directly on to 4mm rigid plastic sheets on its Truepress Jet2500UV flatbed digital printing system. Screen donated the inks and the transparent Vivak material was supplied by Vink Kunststoffen.

Latest step on route to complete production automation from online order entry to finished books

A year after the Norwegian print house AIT Otta AS celebrated its 60th anniversary it is pioneering a powerful new production project. The company specializes in one-stop book printing and is the very first in Europe to integrate Screen’s brand new workflow solution Equios Pre4m with its Hiflex MIS system through a JDF connection. AIT worked closely with Coloro, Screen’s distributor in Norway, to manage the project and three months of testing have shown great results.

Screen extends its digital and CTP range in Russia, Ukraine and other CIS countries with its strong ties with YAM International

23 March 2010: Amstelveen, The Netherlands – As part of its Print on Demand (POD) expansion strategy, Screen is pleased to announce that it has appointed Valkanov Trade Equipment (VTE) as its exclusive distributor in Bulgaria and Macedonia.

VTE will sell and support Screen’s digital range of products, which includes the Truepress Jet520 high-speed colour web press, the Truepress Jet2500UV wide format printer and the Truepress 344 DI offset press.

Rapidly growing Geoff Neal Litho has recently expanded its premises in West London, increased staffing levels and been awarded Direct Mail Printer of the Year Award for the third time. Furthermore, to meet increased demands they have recently installed Screen’s PlateRite 8800Z platesetter, now producing up to 42 B1 plates per hour.

“We needed a platesetter with exceptional throughput to cope with our increasing plate volume and reduce our prepress times,” says Geoff Neal, CEO of Geoff Neal Litho. “It was important to remove any bottlenecks within the system and installing the new platesetter has helped dramatically.
